"Indian Summer"

I sure hope that we do get an Indian summer this year.  It's been so nice this past week with the hot weather and blue blue BLUE skies.

We're hoping that tomorrow after work we can stop at the store on the way home and get some bread, some cheese and some cold cuts, then come home and whip up a couple of sandwiches and get the daggits out for a picnic dinner and walk, since it's still supposed to be nice, just not quite so hot.  Hopefully neither one of us gets stuck on a call or a chat ... and nobody asks for favors for Maxx to pick them up and drop them off and run errands, etc!

While I've had some nice outings with the dogs, I sort of feel like I've missed summer.  Working split shifts may not have the swapping back and forth between days and nights that I can't handle, but it's just not quite enough time being home for 2 to 2 1/2 hours at lunch to really get out and enjoy the weather.  I feel like I've cheated my wee dogs of their nice weather enjoyment, too ... although to be fair when it's hot Angel gets overheated with all that wooly fur, even when she's clipped fairly short.

We've both requested Oct 31 and Nov 1 off, so hopefully we both get approved.  We're specifically NOT having anyone over on the 31st this year, as a bunch of years past we've said we wouldn't and ended up with people over anyhow.  We're actually going to take the evening and remember our dear departed, for once.

Checking over my time off manager page at work the other day, I realized that I actually haven't taken another sick day since the end of March ... although there's been a couple of days I've used banked time to have the second half of my shift off when I was feeling really poorly and we didn't have hugely busy days ... guess those days are behind us, we've just been so frantic lately!  Ah, well, gives me 8 hours of OT tomorrow, which helps out my paycheque AND helps my team, so it's all good.
